بعد از حادثه یازدهم سپتامبر که منجر به فروریختن برج های دو قلوی معروف آمریکا شد ، یک شرکت از بازماندگان شرکت های دیگری که از این حادثه جان سالم به در برده بودند خواست تا از فضای در دسترس شرکت آنها استفاده کنند.

At a morning meeting, the head of security told stories of why these people were alive... and all the stories were just:

As you might know, the head of the company survived that day because his son started kindergarten
مدیر شرکت آن روز نتوانست به برج برسد چرا که روز اول کودکستان پسرش بود.و باید شخصا در کودکستان حضور می یافت .
Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts
همکار دیگر زنده ماند چون نوبت او بود که برای بقیه شیرینی دونات بخرد

One woman was late because her alarm clock didn''t go off in time
یکی از خانم ها دیرش شد چون ساعت زنگدارش سر وقت زنگ نزد!

یکی دیگر نتوانست به اتوبوس برسد.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to taketime to change
یکی دیگر غذا روی لباسش ریخته بود و به خاطر تعویض لباس تاخیر کرد.

اتومبیل یکی دیگر روشن نشده بود.
One went back to answer the telephone
یکی دیگر درست موقع خروج از منزل به خاطر زنگ تلفن مجبور شده بود برگردد.
One had achild that dawdledand didn''t get ready as soon as he should have
یکی دیگر بچه اش تاخیر کرده بود و نتوانسته بود سروقت حاضر شود.

One couldn''tget a taxi
یکی دیگر تاکسی گیرش نیامده بود.
The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he ! got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today
و یکی که مرا تحت تاثیر قرار داده بود کسی بود که آن روز صبح یک جفت کفش نو خریده بود و با وسایل مختلف سعی کرد به موقع سرکار حاضر شود. اما قبل از اینکه به برج ها برسد روی پایش تاول زده بود و به همین خاطر کنار یک دراگ استور ایستاد تا یک چسب زخم بخرد.و به همین خاطر زنده ماند!
Now when I amstuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself,
this is exactly where God wants me to beat this very moment
به همین خاطر هر وقت;
در ترافیک گیر می افتم
آسانسوری را از دست می دهم
مجبور برگردم تا تلفنی را جواب دهم...
و همه چیزهای کوچکی که آزارم می دهد
با خودم فکر می کنم
که خدا می خواهد در این لحظه من زنده بمانم...
